[...] While chowing down on some great Chicago deep dish pizza we went over the agenda and questions for the mom panel. All resulting conversation, however, was lost on me because on the sheet of notes I was handed read the ALL CAPS instructions that the panel questions were staring with ME. (My trip to Los Angeles came flashing back to me in a blur. Why do I always have to go first? Is it because I wore the same suit?) After I got over the initial shock of trying to come up with something witty to say when they started off the panel with ME, I got back to gabbing with the ladies about fun things like Steph’s cute Crocs flats and Madeline’s insights into Chicago public schooling. (Madeline- I’ll be calling you in a few years. Or, as it goes here, tomorrow.) [...]

[...] (4:10 pm Central) Ok, it’s time for the mom panel- wish me luck!! I have to go FIRST, AGAIN! (The horrors of my L.A. trip are coming back to me.) And hopefully, if you’re not totally “Google evented” out you’ll read MY take of the event later tonight. Meaning, I’m going to blog about nothing having to do with business or marketing and everything having to do with being gossipy. [...]

[...] This is not to say I haven’t had my share of cool experiences as a blogger. I’ve been to L.A. where I met the cast of a TV show and more importantly, some other great bloggers. I’ve landed my own online column where I get to write semi-professionally.  This blog has definitely opened up some neat opportunities for me and it’s great to get some free loot once in awhile. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like like the free sh**. Everybody likes free sh**.
[...] Anyway, we all know now how much I hate cameras, so I was totally sweating this trip. I mean literally sweating. It was 75 degrees when I left Chicago yesterday and I made the mistake of getting my favorite Starbucks extra-hot chai latte drink for the cab ride. I was a drowned rat before I even made it to my destination.
[...] A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to go to Los Angeles (along with other influential mommy and daddy bloggers) to visit the set of the CBS show  ”The New Adventures of Old Christine,” starring the ever-lovely Julia-Louis Dreyfus (who I lovingly refer to now as JLD).  The show is coming back on the air Monday, March 12 from 8-9 PM ET/PT with a double header of new episodes. I’d recommend watching. JLD is hot and funny and a natural on camera. And that’s the problem. I’m none of the above.
[...] Martha of Silicon Valley Mom Blogs posted about an upcoming business trip this week that she’s really looking forward to. My recent jaunt to L.A. was a business trip to remember (except for the hotel.) I’m all for going away for work, provided it’s to a good destination and I can stay at a luxury hotel. (Who could say no to 500-count thread sheets at the Ritz? Certainly not me.) So maybe that’s why I’m a little cranky that I have to go to Dalton, GA for business on Sunday night. The project is good, and I’m sure it’s pretty and the people are nice, but Northwest Georgia just doesn’t sound like a “getaway” to me. I’m from the Midwest: Southern accents make me blush. (Even though I whine my vowels like no other.)  Therefore, I’m prompted to ask my dear readers: Where is the worst place you’ve traveled to on business and why? If it’s Chicago, though, I don’t want to know. [...]

[...] Ok, well that is not entirely true. Because I was on a plane for a total of 10 hours this week flying to and from Los Angeles, I got a lot of reading done. (Sorry, book club, I couldn’t bring myself to dig into this month’s book. I’m sure it’s great, but my mom-fried brain can’t do politics at the moment.) Without a very long plane flight in my future, however, I feel like I never have time to read anything other than The Going to Bed Book. Oh yeah, and PowerPoint presentations.
