Scene: My friend showing to me how she turned her 11 month old’s car seat to face forward now because she’s over 20 pounds and her daughter’s happier.
Me: What? How could you? I mean feeding her whole milk at this stage is one thing, but you should really call the doctor before you turn the seat to face forward.
What got into me today? Can somebody bring me down a notch? Or two or three?

Nope, you’re absolutely right. It has nothing to do with weight and everything to do with neck strenthg, You’re friend is just wrong.
~ Totally Type A Sanctimommy (at least on the car seat issue)
Nope, you are right. As a trained child seat tech
I can add that we encourage parents to keep their children rear facing
as long as car seat allows for weight and height. It is truly the
safest position for your little one.
love the term “sanctimommy.” but you’re right! the baby has to be 12 months AND 20lbs…
some friends of ours brought their 13-month-old to our house in an infant seat and the child
was so big they couldn’t fasten the bottom buckle but they “didn’t feel like” removing the
convertible carseat from one car and installing it into the other for the trip to our house.
Does that make ANY sense? Where do you draw the line between holding your tongue so as not to
be judgmental and offend and voicing your concern for the safety of the child??
Wow, this is all good to know. Thank you! I will tell my friend.
