My perfect weekend of blog rehab ended with a quick phone call from my nanny tonight:
“I don’t think I’m going to be reliable anymore.”
Effective Thursday.
I couldn’t make this up if I tried.Â
Two nannies. One year.Â
I’m a nanny flunkie.Â
And to think, I was in the middle of composing a really great post when this all happened. A sign, perhaps?

Eeek! So sorry…
Oh I sympathize! We are on our second nanny of the year too, and I tolerate all the ways she annoys me because — well, a good nanny is so hard to find! (Unfortunately I have to clean my own toilets, so I don’t have a cleaning lady to give me the scoop, but that’s a great idea!)
I do think our nanny is good, she’s just not ME if you know what I’m saying.
By the way, I met you briefly at BlogHer and just finally found the time to visit you. We sat next to each other at the the Book to Blog discussion if I remember correctly.
oh no! but what does this mean? this cryptic “not going to be reliable” business?
i’m so sorry — i know how stressful this is and of course, the timing is never perfect. for what it’s worth, when something like this happens to me i give in a little and try to enjoy what i can…work will alway be there waiting. i know, i know, i’m a pain in the ass:)
Nannys are a pain in the butt. We’re on our second in 4 years, but might be making a change. The first one ended in a blow up fight, and I just told her to leave and not come back. It was great, I had just had our second baby two weeks before that. Total disaster. Current Nanny is good with one kid, not so great with the other. Hmmm. You have to pick your battles, I guess. Nanny searching stinks though, I sympathize.
Hi!
I am away on vacation, otherwise would have responoded sooner – I so know what you are going through. Really. It sucks, plain and simple. And when we went through this, I could not help but try to figure out what WE did wrong.
The one thing I can say as a piece of advice is to just take a breather and focus on finding another great candidate – our third nanny was AMAZING! – I cried for days when we moved because we had to leave her. You can find someone and you might end up liking this person even more.
