Another reason I won’t be blogging for awhile…

I know I’m officially on a “break,” but this was too good not to share with you all.

New nanny told me this morning that she has decided to move to the ‘burbs to be closer to her family and would rather not commute into the city for work. Especially in the wintertime.

Yes, I’m on the nanny hunt. AGAIN.

Yes, I’ll be telling dear husband we have to weigh ALL options, including day care this time around.

Yes, I came about two seconds away from not coming into work today or ever again.

Yes, I’m ready to pull my hair out.

Did that answer most of your questions?

OK. That officially sucks.

OH NO. I almost wish I were close enough so that I could just be your nanny. I am sure Gray would love to play with your little guy… but I then somedays I am ready to start looking for a nanny. Yeah- I’d be one of *those* stay at home moms…

Whatever! Why did she ever take the job in the first place then? Doesn’t she realize a job like nannying is kind of a long-term committment? How frustrating! Do you want me to smack her for you? Cuz I will.

What Busy Mom said. :(

LIParentSource.com September 19, 2007 at 3:29 pm

ugh. I truly sympathize. No words though, only ugh.

Jamie September 19, 2007 at 4:11 pm

That really really stinks for you and your son. I’m so sorry. :(

Take a well deserved break. Blogging is a “fun” past time but it is a HUGE time sucker. (this coming from someone who has done it for almost two years…GAH!)

Good luck with the nanny search and I hope this time you find the perfect ONE.

High Heeled Mama September 19, 2007 at 4:37 pm

Seriously?!?! Wow. And I’m with Emily – let me know when the smackdown takes place and I’m totally in.

Good luck (again). Ugh.

It’s like the secretaries on Murphy Brown!

We use a small family day care that a woman (mother of 6) runs in her home. I think it’s a nice compromise between an individual nanny and the more commercial daycares (which I think are better for slightly older kids). And she only charges $3 an hour! The one drawback is that it’s not as flexible as a nanny, like I HAVE to make sure I get to work and leave work at very specific times. But for that price, I can punch a clock.

Are you kidding me? After all that work? They should have to sign a contract.

Good luck with the next steps. I am sure you will find someone even better, just remember to Google them (smile).

Oh, yuk. I’m sorry.

Maggie September 20, 2007 at 7:03 am

Why on earth did she take this job? Why???

AmyBow September 20, 2007 at 7:25 am

Last night we had Open School Night at my daughter’s day care center. It was actually very nice, even though she has been going there for over a year. I know each family has to make its own decision, but we really think that day care has helped make LP a well-adjusted, independent toddler – with a pretty good routine, which makes a big difference in the time we spend together.

The down-side – day care is pretty inflexible in terms of timing. Drop off no early than 8 and pick-up no later than 6…

cordelia525 September 20, 2007 at 9:25 am

what a suckfest.

Hang in there chica! I support your decision, what ever it is.

If you decide against resigning, for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t give up on nannydom. Even my worst nanny hell days (and I’ve had many) compare favorably to the daycare routine.

Shelli September 20, 2007 at 9:37 am

oh, hell. Ugggghhh!! I am disturbed for you. (stomping feet under desk)

I feel your pain. Lack of affordable, reliable, quality childcare sucks the life out of way too many mamas. I’m sorry that your saga continues.

L.A. Daddy September 21, 2007 at 11:11 am

We’re having the childcare issues, too. LA Toddler’s daycare closed down and she’s fairly happy with her new place. But… the new place doesn’t take infants. And we’ve got one due in 6 weeks. And, theoretically, we’d like for both daycares to be in the same CITY… although, who knows. We’re not having much luck so far.

Anyway. Feel your pain. But at least we don’t have “wintertime.” I barely remember what that is :)
