Would it be weird to casually say to her in passing, "Hey, I just wanted to clarify that I was the one who sent you that text message a few days ago. I don't think I really identified myself well and you probably wondered who sent you the message. Anyway, I got your number from _____ because I thought it would be fun to get our kids together sometime. I probably just should have called you!" Is this totally out of the realm of possibility? "Umm, I don't know if you know me, but we have waved to each other a few times ... and anyway I saw you in ski class ... and I tracked down your number ..." At least with a text, you don't actually have to witness that, "Who the hell is this, and why are you calling?" moment. I kind of thought these situations only happened to me. You can just feel the tingle of the happy coincidence, you feel like it just HAS to be followed up on, and yet somehow something gets lost by the time it gets to the other person.
