There’s a first for everything

I’m thinking, eating, breathing matzah this week as I plan to keep Passover for the first time. Ever. So you all are going to keep it with me. I’m already so sick of that unleavened bread and it’s only day two. My stomach feels like a rock. Is Metamucil kosher for Passover?

Anyway, imagine what a cruel joke it was when I spooned out some chicken soup for my son tonight and in the dregs of the pot found these:

G-d love my 85-year-old grandfather who thinks it’s ok to put noodles in Passover matzah ball soup.

Thank goodness for the two-year-old who doesn’t care about Chametz. And thank goodness for loyal Jewish readers who will suffer through the next six (oy!) days with me.

Hang in there. Maybe those are unleavened noodles?? ;)

hahahaaaaa…I think I know the reason there were noodles. See, we had “passover” before it was really passover, so our 85 grandfather–well he probably just wouldn’t get it anyway–we love him anyway!

You can do it!

Yesterday at work I was thinking how nice it would be to nibble on some preztels, but no.

Tonight we’re having matzah nachos, tomorrow night it’s up to DH as I work late. Thursday we’ll have spinach dip matzoh “sandwiches,” which odd as it sounds, my boys really like. Friday we’ll have matzah lasagne and one of those Manischevitz cake mixes for dessert. By Saturday we’ll be really feeling it. Maybe we’ll make it through the last two days on chocolate-covered matzah brittle.

Good luck!

I keep Passover pretty strictly, so I am right there with you. I just make whatever I would normally make, outside of pasta. Roast chicken, potatoes, veggies, fruit. I don’t eat a lot of bread normally, so it’s not a big deal for me. Good luck. Tweet me at @savvyauntie for recipies :-)
