I have this thing about my hair. I always change my mind about what kind of style I want. Currently, I’m in the midst of wanting my hair to be super long.
I actually once had really long hair. With bangs! (collective gasp begin now)
I’m fully blaming “new mom brain” for this look.
A few cuts later and it was the Katie Holmes bob-o-rama of 2007

I swear I didn’t mean for this to happen.
Which brings me to 2009 or, Operation: Growing It Out. Otherwise known as a painful ordeal where I partially revist “The Rachel” cut. Not on purpose.

Had I known I was going to go back in time with my hairstyle I WOULD HAVE NEVER CUT MY HAIR!
Of course, when I found out this week that Katie went from bob to bombshell overnight with magical hair extensions I went loony. Now I only have one mission in mind: Must Look Like Holmes Again.
It’s just not fair that us frugal peons have to do the grow out the old-fashioned way.
I know PunditMom and ChickyChickyBaby are also leading the quest for long hair. Are you? Let’s all share photos of our progress. We can live in grow-out misery together.
Until then, I’m wearing my hair back and in headbands daily.

I’m at a total loss as to what to do with my hair. I was growing it out, but it’s not looking too good. Am thinking of shaving it off and starting all over. *sigh*
I feel your pain. I’m growing out an almost shaved in back ‘Pob’ (thanks a lot Victoria Beckham) and it’s not totally horrible, but it’s not looking it’s best. I too had the long hair like in your first picture, so I think it’s going to take a while to look decent.
Oh my! I’m going to have to dig through some old photos! Also, I’m upset with my hairdresser — she was supposed to color and “trim” yesterday and took more off than I wanted.
YOU look great!
I sooo want long hair. Alas, my hair is poker straight and way too fine… when I grow my hair out it looks horrifying these days. Although! I totally would love to do the extensions just once. Maybe I will one day. Beats waiting a couple years. lol.
Oh too funny! I’m growing it long, too!
Steph
I’m just growing it with the occasional quick, cheap-o haircut until a week or two before BlogHer (or big client meeting) when I will splurge for a real cut and style. Working from home has its advantages.
I’m loving the bangs. Not everyone can do that.
Thanks Megan. I think it’s an uncharacteristically (sp?) decent photo of a really bad cut.
I was just going to say the same thing — that you were too hard on yourself in the 1st photo, because I didn’t think the bangs looked so bad.
Although, you did make me think twice about my own sanity, b/c I’m strongly considering full on baangs for myself, but I’m pregnant at the moment….perhaps I shouldn’t trust my own judgment! Oh well – it will grow back, right????
Ha! I was going to do this too. I’ll have to find some pictures and show my support.
And call me crazy, but I kinda like the bangs/long hair look on you.
Long hair rocks! So many women get swayed by starlets, only to see magical extensions on them the next month. My DW has not had short hair since 1995. She dislikes it on herself more than I do.
