Hm. Well, I used to make a decent (part-time) income from freelance writing. But work has dried up lately... so much that I can barely call myself a writer. And I do miss the income. But I don't want to miss Baby's next coo. It's a dilemma, for sure.

I think moms who get upset and criticize other moms about decisions are really insecure with their own decisions. In an attempt to justify our own choices--especially the choices with which we may be really be uncomfortable, though we'd never admit to it--we criticize anyone who has made the opposite choice.

The other day in the supermarket, as I was packing groceries into my cloth shopping bags, I heard someone say, "I don't care if it makes me a bad person. I'm just not spending money on reusable shopping bags."

I hadn't judged that person. Quite honestly, I don't care a bit what kind of bags she uses. But just seeing me with those bags obviously made her feel defensive.

I think moms can be the same way about their choices in life.

Wow, I had no idea this firestorm started. Seeing as I am a WAHM on some days and a WOHM other days, I guess I'll have to fight it out with myself.

Nah, that's too exhausting.
